What should I wear
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement and wicks away sweat. Women should wear tight fitting tops, so that when they are in any inverted pose, the top doesn't fall up (or down, depending on the point of view). As for pants, capris or tight fitting full length pants are recommended.
Do I need a mat?
You do not. Studio has mats that you can borrow, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. You can buy them in stores and mats can also be purchased in the studio. Prices vary based on quality and materials. We offer high quality natural rubber mats that are long lasting and non slippery. Come for a class or two and if you like yoga, invest in a good mat.
•Arrive 15 minutes early to allow yourself time to register, sign-in and prepare for the yoga class. •Wear comfortable, lightweight clothing from natural fibers, if possible. Your body should be able to breathe through your clothing. Our yoga studio has wide range of yoga clothing designed and chosen for Yoga practice. •Yoga is practiced bare foot to stimulate the vital nerve endings in the soles of your feet. Wearing socks in the class can cause injuries. •BLISS recommends you have a personal yoga mat for hygienic reasons. Our yoga studio sells high quality yoga mats. Please check our store for details. •Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. BLISS recommends that you do not eat 2-3 hours before a class. •All BLISS students are responsible for their own practice. Be conscious and aware of overstretching and injuries. Your body is your temple. •To avoid any injuries or health problems, check with your doctor before starting to practice yoga. •Inform the teacher prior to yoga class about any serious existing health conditions; back, neck, or joint injuries, recent surgery, high blood pressure or pregnancy. •For women, when menstruating, it is advised to refrain from practicing “breath of fire,” “root lock” (squeezing pelvic floor muscles) and inverted postures. Menstruation is considered “apana” (the body is eliminating; downward flow) whereas the above techniques encourage upward flow of energy. •BLISS Yoga Studio has a fragrance free environment, so please refrain from wearing perfume in the studio. •All cell phones and pagers should be turned off before entering the yoga studio. •Drinking lots of water after the yoga class is recommended. We recommend having a bath in sea salt or a shower to relax your muscles after the class.
