Kundalini Yoga

As taught by Yogi Bhajan, is not only a system of physical exercise; it’s a dynamic, powerful tool for expanding awareness. It is an integrated and authentic system of exercise, breath control and meditation that has been practiced in India for millennia. Kundalini Yoga is safe, comprehensive and simple. It promotes physical health, stimulates the mind’s potential and touches one’s innermost being. Much of Kundalini Yoga was kept secret until Yogi Bhajan first came to America to teach it in 1968 and founded the 3HO Foundation. Kundalini Yoga is dynamic in its practice, vast in practical information and powerful in its experience. It is perfect for people who want both the immediate and long-term benefits of yoga with a relaxed and uplifting experience of consciousness. Classes are suitable for all levels: beginner through to more advance students who want to deepen their foundation. kriyas (action sets or sets of postures), pranayam (breath exercises), bandhas (internal locks created by tensing certain muscles), mantra (sound projections), mudra (hand positions) and meditation are explained in detail.

Ashtanga Yoga

A vigorous and athletic form of Yoga combining Ujjayi breath with sun salutations and deep stretches. The sequence is similar from class to class. Ashtanga Yoga practiced regularly develops a calm mind, improving balance and increasing strength, endurance and flexibility.

Ashtanga Beat

Flowing Ashtanga sequences practiced to the rhythm of a live drum – a stimulating new experience.

Hatha Yoga

Class is structured in a sequence of postures to improve muscle strength, flexibility and range of motion, all very important for the healing and prevention of diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis. Long deep breathing improves lung capacity and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, supporting its “rest and renew” functions.

Vinyasa

Class is a bit more vigorous than a Hatha class. It uses the flowing Vinyasa movement of Ashtanga yoga and a variety of postures to cultivate balance, flexibility, strength and endurance.

Yin Yoga

Is a great complement for today’s active lifestyle, including Yang Yoga classes (Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha Flow) and any kind of sports activities. Yin Yoga works on the connective tissues, promoting joint mobility and allowing a sense of ease and lightness in the body. Practicing Yin Yoga regularly will ensure healthy joints and increased range of motion. The prolonged hold of each pose (up to 3 – 5 minutes each) will create an excellent gateway to a meditation practice. This class is suitable for beginners through to seasoned practitioners. All those who wish to deepen their self-inquiry.

Flow Yoga

Is a Hatha-style Yoga class where the poses flow one into another, linked by your breath. We will explore sun salutations, moon series, earth series and many other “vinyasas”, (breath synchronized movement), as well as meditation and pranayama (breathing practice). This class will allow you to work at your own pace, while developing strength, stamina and flexibility

Gentle Hatha

Teaches us how to be more comfortable in our bodies especially when we go through a change. This class will assist you to strengthen your bones, loosen your joints and to lengthen your muscles. Emotional management and directing the mind chatter will also be addressed throughout the sequences of the postures.

Meditation

Is a process that leads to a state of serenity, clarity and bliss. Kundalini Yoga meditation includes some or all of the following aspects: mantra (chanting), mudra (hand positions), mental focus, music and/or silence. Come and experience the depth of peace and calm created by a quiet state of the mind.

Yoga Therapy

Class consists of gentle, supported postures to help to restore movement and flexibility, release tension and quiet the mind. This practice involves the exploration of postures assisted by the use of props such as the wall, a bolster or several folded blankets as a way of being in a pose for longer periods of time. The class is suitable for beginners and people who are recovering from illness or injury, but is also open to anyone seeking a gentle, meditative class.

Prenatal Yoga

Classes are a great way to share the experience with a group of other pregnant women while being able to relax and focus completely on your body and your baby. We practice gentle yoga poses, breath work, vocal toning and meditation, with the intention to relive some of the common discomforts of pregnancy (back aches to ankle swelling) and prepare for labour and delivery. No prior yoga experience is necessary to benefit from these classes
