BLISS Yoga Studio FAQs

I’m new to Yoga, how do I start?

If you are new to Yoga, we encourage you to sign up for a beginner workshop, either Introduction to Kundalini Yoga or Beginner Hatha Yoga Workshop. Depending on your level of physical ability you can start either with some of our gentler regular classes or a regular class.   Inform the teacher if you are a beginner.  Our teachers ensure that you benefit from your initial yoga experience and practise in a safe environment.

If you have never been in the studio before, we offer a $20 pass for unlimited BLISS Yoga classes during the first week. You can check out different styles of yoga and teachers, then choose which classes will be the best for you. Our One Week pass may not be used for our pre-registered workshops.

What if I’m not flexible?

Then you need yoga even more! Yoga is not only about flexibility – although flexibility develops with regular practice. Yoga is a scientific system optimizing your strength, stamina, flexibility, endurance, consistency, regularity, calmness, balance and peace of mind. Yoga works on all levels: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. You will be amazed to discover the positive changes regular yoga practice brings to your body and mind.

Do I need a yoga mat?

BLISS has some mats in the studio that you can borrow. We encourage you to have your own personal mat for hygienic reasons. We offer natural rubber mats for sale. Natural rubber mats don’t have harmful chemicals and PVC, they are biodegradable – do not pollute the earth, and are slip-resistant. You can check them out when you visit us at the yoga studio.

What should I wear?

Wear any comfortable clothing that allows you to bend and stretch freely.   Shorts, tights, sweat pants, T-shirts are all appropriate gear for practice.  Yoga is practised bare foot.

How do I choose a style of Yoga to practice?

Most of us find a style of yoga which in time, we tend to identify with and relate to.  The best way to discover the style of yoga which works best for you, try the same style several times and then decide if this is the style for you.  Taking different styles of yoga during the week is also a great way to practise.  Your body and mind are constantly evolving and changing with the frenetic pace of our daily lives.  It is perfectly normal – and beneficial to vary the kind of yoga you practise if you need this at a certain time.

What are the classes without chanting?

Hatha based classes like Yoga for Core Strength and Restorative yoga, Ashtanga andVinyasa classes do not have chanting as a part of the class.

Do you have showers, lockers and change rooms?

We do have change rooms for men and women however we do not  have showers and lockers.

What if I have an injury or a physical condition?

Please ask your doctor if you can practice Yoga and let the teacher know if you have an injury or physical condition that may affect your practice.   The teacher will explain the modification of the poses that would be accessible to you so that you can get the most benefits from your practice. During the class, follow your instincts and common sense. If a certain pose doesn’t feel right, don’t do it.

Which yoga classes have meditation?
